Sample Wedding Speech for a Bridesmaid (Matron Of Honor)
Ladies and gentlemen,
For those of you who don't already know, my name is ********** and I'm a friend of the bride *******. In fact, it has been my great honour , privilege and pleasure to be her bridesmaid, on this the most important day in her life. I have known******** for most of my professional life, since we both first became colleagues and friends. ********* is a true friend of mine, and I am delighted for her that she has finally decided to tie the knot with the love of her life******
And as some of you may already know******** is quite the history buff , who can often dazzle everyone with his general knowledge and his grasp of historical facts. This is why I speak about Christopher Columbus, who set sail from Europe on this day in 1492. Although that was a little over 500 years ago, much of what has transpired since then has a great deal of relevance today, because today is the day that we share in the vows that our newly married couple ******** and ******** have just made to one another.
For those of you who, during school, slept through your History Class, Christopher Columbus was an explorer who received royal financial backing from Queen Isabella of Spain, and who then set out on an adventure to find a new, quicker trade route to the New World for precious silks and spices. Upon his departure Columbus took with him three ships (The Nina, The Pinta and The Santa Maria). While his adventures altered the course of history, his travels weathered many storms, as well as many celebratory milestones, as he landed not only fame and fortune, but respect and praise from his countrymen and women.
Like Columbus, ***** too wooed his majestic, beautiful bride ******* in order set out on the journey of life together, to find a new route to happiness . Both the bride and groom have prepared for some time for this momentous day. This will be a day that goes down in history as the day that they have set sail on their new voyage of life together, discovering virgin lands untouched by time or space, testing both familiar and unfamiliar waters, as well as celebrating their conquests and their successes.
And now that they have found each other, they have laughed, cried, matured and have become even stronger, all in preparation for their new experiences as one strong, joined and united team to face their new world and all the challenges that it will throw at them.
May ******* and ****** always sail in the same direction, sharing aspirations, hopes, dreams, laughter and co-sharing all conquests. It now gives me immense pleasure to ask you all to raise your glasses and join with me in a toast to ******* and *****.
_____________Bridesmaid.
